Private Telegram channels

TickerShare posts to any chat where your bot is an admin. Private channels and private groups work exactly like public ones.

Setup

  1. Add your bot as an administrator of the private channel with permission to post.
  2. In TickerShare Settings, add the channel as a destination. Private channels have no public @username, so use the chat id.
  3. Attach the destination to your webhook.

Finding a private chat id

Forward any message from the channel to a chat-id helper bot on Telegram, or add your bot and check its updates. Private channel ids are numeric and usually start with -100.

Notes

  • Your bot is the only thing that posts. Nobody outside your channel can see or request the cards.
  • Cards are delivered and hosted by Telegram itself. TickerShare keeps a delivery log but does not archive your images.
  • Paid-channel operators typically run TickerShare into the private VIP channel and post teasers to the free channel by hand. Conditional routing between channels is on the roadmap.
